The Flying Pisanos

Jeanne Pisano

Jeanne Pisano is a singer/lyricist born in Nebraska and began her vocal career at the age of ten singing and touring with her mother's dance band. Since then, Jeanne has performed in venues all over the world; Canada, Europe, the Caribbean, Hong Kong, Australia and Japan as well as New York, Washington DC, Pittsburgh, Los Angeles and other major U.S. cities and has appeared with the "Joe Pass Quartet". Jeanne is an incredible performer and one is mesmerized when she utilizes her four-octave range in combination with other instruments.

She has worked on numerous TV shows and commercial voice-overs. She ran her own "Get Your Act Together" master class performance workshop in Hollywood, for thirteen years. She continues to coach privately and give lectures and seminars, with her guitarist husband, John Pisano and can be heard on John's Pablo/Fantasy releases.

The late Leonard Feather wrote about Jeanne, "a radiant example of what tasteful, mature and sensitive singing is all about…"

Jeanne is also a fine lyricist and has written special material lyrics for such celebrities as Johnny Mathis and The Supremes. She has collaborated lyrically with composers Billy Childs, Eduardo del Barrio, Mike Lang and Ivan Lins on original songs. Dianne Reeves has recorded five of Jeanne's songs on Blue Note, including "Endangered Species". Additional luminaries include Dennis Rowland on Concord Jazz, Cleo Laine on R.C.A. and the Scandinavian stylist Line on EMI. She wrote half the songs on the 1997 "The Flying Pisanos" debut recording. Her poetry speaks of romance in a manner, which combines the bittersweet reflections of joy found and love lost.

Recently, Jeanne recorded the CD entitled, "Angel Child", a collection of lullabies and "quiet-time" music for children and adults, with harpist/pianist Julie Allis Berghofer. Jeanne composed both music and lyrics for several of the songs and elicited these responses:

"There is something lovely and calming about listening to the selections on "Angel Child". It may be Jeanne Pisano's voice or Julie Berghofer's harp or more likely the symbiotic blending of their hearts." Estelle and Carl Reiner

"I've been playing "Cavatina" for about 5 years now. But I think I heard it for the first time. Your singing is so beautiful as is the whole CD. The world needs to hear you and I pray for more chances for that. Bless You Angel!" Gene Bertoncini

Jeanne and John perform together regularly, and are known as "The Flying Pisanos". Since her musical affiliation with John, she has been part of the guitar world and has shared the stage with John and with many esteemed guitarists including Joe Pass, George Van Epps, Gene Bertoncini, Phil Upchurch and Frank Vignola. Here are some of their comments:

"Jeanne has superb musicianship, she's the best!" Joe Pass

"You don't sing clichés and that makes you a musician, not just a singer." George Van Epps

"Jeanne, you're singing is pure and beautiful. I look forward to a lot more." Frank Vignola

Don Hechman of the LA Times wrote, "…Jeanne Pisano gives an intense performance!"
