JOHN BELZAGUY
ACOUSTIC AND ELECTRIC BASSIST


Since beginning his professional career in 1980 in New York City, bassist John Belzaguy has performed with a diverse collection of artists. He has been heard on many recordings, appeared on television and played concerts, festivals, and clubs throughout the country and the world.

John Belzaguy has a reputation as a versatile musician. He has performed with numerous artists in a variety of styles, including vocalists Patti Austin, Rosemary Clooney, Natalie Cole, Celia Cruz, Placido Domingo and Ricky Martin with the LA Opera, Gloria Estefan, Michael Feinstein, Lainie Kazan, Jane Monheit, Anita O'Day, Patti Paige, Chita Rivera, Bobby Rydell, Frank Sinatra Jr. and Nancy Wilson, clarinetist Eddie Daniels, flutist Herbie Mann, saxophonists Ritchie Cole, Herb Geller, Paul Horn, Steve Lacy and Bud Shank, guitarists Larry Coryell and Al Viola, pianists Mose Allison, Alan Pasqua and Cedar Walton, percussionists Francisco Aguabella and Candido, composer/arrangers Ian Frazier, Richard Kaufman, Peter Matz, Chico O'Farrill, Nick Perito, Harold Wheeler and Patrick Williams, drummers Greg Field, Butch Miles, Roy McCurdy, Marvin "Smitty" Smith (with the Buddy Rich Memorial Band) and Ian Wallace, violinist Regina Carter, various groups including The Banda Brothers, The Estrada Brothers Band, The Percy Faith Orchestra, The Jazz on the Latin Side All-Stars and The Gene Krupa Memorial Band, comedians Red Buttons, Charlie Callas, Jack Carter, George Kirby, Scott Record and Don Rickles.

John moved to the Los Angeles area in 1999. He is currently performing and touring with recording artist and Grammy winner Natalie Cole.
